Beti Bachao Beti Padhao program to be extended to all districts

Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, the Centre’s flagship program for women’s empowerment which focuses on the education of girl children and improving the sex ratio, will now be extended across the country according to guidelines issued by the Women and Child Development (WCD) Ministry. The program is operational in 405 districts at present. The ministry published comprehensive guidelines for Mission Shakti the guidelines are applicable from April.

RBI and Bank Indonesia sign MoU to improve cooperation

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Bank Indonesia (BI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Bali, Indonesia, to improve mutual cooperation between them. With this MoU, RBI and BI committed to deepening relations between the two central banks and strengthening the exchange of information and cooperation in the area of central banking, including payment systems, digital innovation in payments services, and regulatory and supervisory framework for Anti Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML-CFT).

Kotak Mahindra Bank becomes the first to integrate with the new Income Tax portal

Kotak Mahindra Bank has completed technical integration with the new e-filing portal of the Income Tax department and has become the first private bank to fully integrate with the portal. Its customers can now pay their direct taxes through the e-pay tax tab on the portal using Kotak net banking or by visiting a branch. The bank said this will make the tax payment process simple, instant, and convenient for customers.

Varanasi to be 1st cultural and tourism capital of SCO

The holy city of Varanasi showcasing India’s culture and traditions over the ages will be declared the first Cultural and Tourism Capital of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The Beijing-headquartered Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an eight-member economic and security alliance comprising China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, India, and Pakistan.

Syngenta India launches Biodiversity Sensor Project with IIT Ropar

Syngenta India announced the launch of the Biodiversity Sensor Project, a biodiversity monitoring technology in association with IIT Ropar. Syngenta also flagged off India’s first Drone Yatra, which will travel 10,000 km to create awareness of drone spraying among 10,000 farmers. The Yatra will travel to 13 states to demonstrate and educate farmers on the use of drones.
