DRDO appoints Samir V Kamat as the Chief 

The Personnel Ministry has announced the appointment of scientist Samir V Kamat as the Secretary and Chairman of the Department of Defense Research and Development Organization. He is currently the Director General of Naval Systems and Materials at the DRDO.

PM Modi inaugurates cancer hospital in Punjab Mohali 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 24 said holistic health care has been a priority in the country for the past eight years and more work has been done in this field than in the last seven decades. He inaugurated 300-bed Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Mohali Mullanpur. The facility has been built at a cost of over ₹660 crores by Tata Memorial Centre, an aided institute under the Union Department of Atomic Energy.

India first commercial space situational awareness observatory, to track objects as small as 10 cm in size orbiting the earth, will be set up in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand by Digantara, a space sector start-up.
