PM Modi to inaugurate 44th Chess Olympiad
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the 44th International Chess Olympiad today in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, Chief Minister MK Stalin, and Union Minister Anurag Thakur will also be present at the event. The event will take place at Jawahar Lal Nehru Indoor stadium.
Centre tells Lok Sabha: 7.2 lakh people got government jobs since 2014
The Central government informed the Lok Sabha that more than 7.2 lakh people have got government jobs in various departments since 2014. Union Minister Jitendra Singh added that employability in the country is the government main priority.
Revised pay scale to be applicable retrospectively from 2016
The Supreme Court has approved the second national judicial pay commission of 25,000 judicial officers. The last pay raise was given in 2016 and hence, the court has asked to pay the dues from 2016 retrospectively.
3 more MPs were suspended from Rajya Sabha
3 more MPs have been suspended for this week from the Rajya Sabha session. Till now, a total of 23 MPs have been suspended for disturbing the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha.

The Olympic double medalist in badminton Manpreet Singh, the captain of the Indian men hockey team, and PV Sindhu was chosen on Wednesday to carry the national flag during the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) added Manpreet as the second flagbearer after learning from the organizers that each nation needed two flagbearers—one male and one female—while Sindhu name was announced from a shortlist of three competitors.
