Justice Uday Umesh Lalit took oath as the 49th Chief Justice of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The oath was administered by President Draupadi Murmu. He aims to make the filing of fresh cases simpler and transparent during his 74-day tenure.

Indian nationals issued the largest number of visas from the UK

Indian nationals have been issued the largest number of study, work, and visitor visas from the United Kingdom in the year ending June 2022. The latest UK Immigration Statistics published yesterday show that nearly 1,18,000 Indian students received a student visa in the year ending June 2022 – an 89 percent increase from the previous year. With this, India has now overtaken China as the largest nationality being issued sponsored study visas in the UK.

In a statement, the US 7th Fleet in Japan said, the guided-missile cruisers USS Antietam and USS Chancellorsville are making the voyage through waters where high seas freedoms of navigation and overflight apply in accordance with international law.

California announces to ban the sale of new petrol vehicles by 2035

In the USA, California state announced that it will ban the sale of new petrol vehicles by 2035. Under the rules, issued by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), 35 percent of new vehicles sold in the state must be electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered by 2026. The regulations would apply to 68 percent of vehicle sales by 2030, and 100 percent by 2035, as the media reported.
