Birkeland Eyde process is a used for the manufacture of nitric acid, atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen are made to combine under the influence of any electric arc to form nitric oxide(NO) which is then oxidised to NO<sub>2</sub> and absorbed in water to get HNO<sub>3</sub>.
