The reorganisation of states in 1956 formed 14 states and 6 union territories in India. The states were-Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Bombay, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Madras, Mysore, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Jammu Kashmir. Union territories were- Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Laccadivi Island.
